Young women increasingly anxious about their finances

Young women have much higher levels of anxiety than the rest of the Australian population and financial problems are a key cause of their stress.

An annual survey of wellbeing by the National Australia Bank shows the level of anxiety reported by women under the age of 30 is at the highest level since the poll began in early 2013. Young women said general finances, a lack of time, and events such as abuse were the biggest detractors from their wellbeing. The analysis showed women aged 18 to 29 were much more likely than the rest of the population to rate “finances and money” as a drag on their welfare. The overall level of wellbeing reported by women under the age of 30 has fallen to the lowest mark since NAB started an Australian wellbeing index three years ago.
