Eugene can’t remember how he came across Cam McLellan’s book – My Four Year Old The Property Investor - but it changed his thinking completely.
“I don’t know how I came across Cam’s book. When I read through it, it’s really enlightening actually, it really made a lot of sense.
Typically we all think about buying only in the city that we live in. It helped me understand the property buying cycles and why area is so important.”
At a meeting with Victor Manusov, Eugene and his wife heard about Victor’s past experience about building his own house and the issues he experienced compared to going through OpenCorp, which was a much better experience for Victor. This story paralleled Eugene’s own situation.
“We met with Victor and were presented with an option in Portland south side of Brisbane. We were running kind of a parallel journey I suppose with our investment journey. One was DIY the other one was with OpenCorp.
Even though we had bought Greenvale nine months prior to investing with OpenCorp, the house with OpenCorp was completed before Greenvale!”
Compared to DIY investing, Eugene, like Victor, found investing through OpenCorp was much simpler and easier.
“It was so easy I really didn't have to do a whole lot except sign off on the invoices to get the bank to pay each instalment which I found quite astonishing.”
After his experience with OpenCorp Eugene realised what he was missing when he was trying to do it all for himself.
“You know before we didn't really have a plan. We didn't really have a repeatable process it was just like really ad hoc.
I like the stability of the property market even though it may not have extremely high growth it's just a slow steady growth that gives us a lot of assurance.”
Now the couple feel a lot more comfortable about the stability of their financial future.
“I feel we've made some really good decisions with OpenCorp which has really set us in the right direction. Both me and my wife feel very comfortable about the progress and how the portfolio is growing and feeling financially secure about the future.”
