Marc’s journey into property investing was prompted by a significant financial loss during the GFC.

“Before OpenCorp, my money was in a superannuation fund. I’d been managing my own fund for 25 years. After the GFC I lost 45% of it!

So I needed to find a way to make some money so that we could retire comfortably and live the way we live at the moment.”

Marc began looking into property investing when he came across an ad for the book ‘My Four Year Old, the Property Investor’.

“I was reading property magazines and I saw an ad for Cam’s book. It was a really good book. Simple to read. And I realised that property investing was probably the way to go.”

During a trip to Melbourne, Marc organised to meet with Cam. It was a fortuitous meeting.

“Had breakfast with Cam. Actually the breakfast meeting went till lunchtime. Then we signed contracts to build 2 houses that day.”

Marc is now very solidly on his investment journey with the team at OpenCorp and he has this advice for anyone just starting on their journey.

“The hardest point is just to press the button and start the process. You shouldn’t procrastinate. You should press the button and move forward.

That’s the problem lots of people have. They procrastinate. And I did.

Once you press the button and move forward, it gets better, it gets clearer. It’s like moving down a foggy road. At first you can’t see too far but as you keep moving down it gets clearer.”

Marc has clearly left his past experiences with investing behind and is very comfortable with the close relationship he has with his investment adviser at OpenCorp.

“I’ve now built four houses with Open Corp and I know now that I’ve made the right decision. And I’m thinking why didn’t I do this 10 years ago? “
