Greg admits he was initially not that interested in property investing because he wrongly believed his current situation did not allow him to do it.
“I was never really driven towards acquiring property because I didn't think I actually had that opportunity yet at that stage. But when I started to see that the process was really easy it started to pique my interest. Now looking back on it, I own a couple of properties so it's fantastic.”
His wife Esther also had her own feelings about investing until a life milestone and chance discovery of a book in a library changed all that.
“When I was about to turn 30 that's when my mind kicked in that we’ve got to do something now. So, my son is randomly picking up books in the library and that's when I actually came across My Four Year Old The Property Investor. Came home and read through the whole thing within a few hours. It's still my Bible honestly today.
I've read many other books relating to property investments and but none of the books really took you through step by step from the beginning till the end so this made sense.”
After discussing the book with Greg, he realised he was on a trajectory that wasn’t meeting his goals.
“Freedom and time were everything that I was after. The way I was going wasn't going to be able to achieve that in the limited time I have. Being able to embark on property investing it's exciting to see that I might be able to achieve that freedom that I'm after.”
Greg and Esther have some advice for anyone unsure about starting in property investing.
