Having watched her mother work hard as a teacher her whole life only to end up on the pension, Kate was determined she would not end up with
the same fate. She wanted to to provide herself with a comfortable, self-sufficient future.
It was in her early twenties when she first started investing, although at first, not successfully. Kate laughs when she says she could write a book about what NOT to do. Prior to teaming up with us Kate already had some disappointing investment experiences under her belt. She’d invested in some positively geared properties in mining towns that proved to be volatile markets, causing continual nervousness and anxiety. While she’d tried to inform herself at investment seminars and with research, her strategy simply wasn’t providing her with the growth she had hoped for.

In 2014 she bought her first investment property in Victoria with us. It performed beyond expectations and she sat on it for 6 years before coming back to OpenCorp to have it revalued. At this point we suggested she use the equity on this property to buy another. She followed this advice and bought a second property in Queensland and then two years ago did the same thing again and bought a property in WA.
Having had so many differing investment experiences, Kate can definitely see the value of arming yourself with the right people and surrounding yourself with those who have expertise where you don’t. We made the process seamless by doing all the hard work for her and stepping her through the entire process. This included finding the right properties, securing finance, progressing the build and then managing leasing and tenancies once the properties are finished.

While Kate doesn’t have a finite plan as to when she will retire she knows now that she is well on the way to providing herself with a stable and comfortable future. Her only regret is she didn’t start with OpenCorp sooner.
